Project Objective:

During my Summer 2025 internship at ZMM Architects and Engineers in Charleston, WV, myself and the other design and engineering interns were tasked to design a multi-tenant building that housed a bakery, a marketing & media firm, and an architecture and engineering firm. During this project, I was tasked with designing the furniture that would be located both inside and outside of the building.

What makes Rock City Cake Company unique is not just the jaw dropping cakes or the delicious baked treats, it's also the fact that they have a stage inside their bakery to host small concerts and shows. Rock and roll plays a massive impact in the branding of Rock City, from the vintage music posters on the walls, to the loud sounds of heavy metal playing throughout the store.

Continuing the rock and roll theme, I wanted to design unique furniture pieces that would not only complement the aesthetics of Rock City's new space, but also reflect their brand identity. Many of these details can be found in the guitar pick shaped tables and stools, the bakery case that resembles an amplifier, and the guitar headstock shaped bench seating.
